Official Web site of sought-after inspirational speaker
Trisha Meili, who for years was identified by the media only as the “Central
Park Jogger”. On April 19, 1989, then 28-year-old Meili, an investment banker, went
on a night jog at New York City’s Central Park and raped and was beaten almost to death by
five youths.

Meili was found the following day suffering from severe
hypothermia and massive blood loss and her skull was fractured. The doctors’ initial
prognosis was that she would die or would remain in a coma. Meili regained
consciousness after 12 days to the surprise of her doctors.

Because of the stigma and trauma that victims of sexual
assault often face, the media identified Meili as the “Central Park Jogger” in
news reports. The savagery of the attack sparked world outrage and prompted New York City officials to
crack down on crime. Meili went into seclusion for 14 years until 2003 when she
revealed her identity, published her memoir and began a career as an
inspirational speaker.

Meili’s memoir, titled “I Am the Central Park Jogger: A
Story of Hope and Possibility”, is not about the attack but about her recovery
and healing, and how she rebuilt her life. Her book, a best-seller on the New
York Times list, is also meant to help others in recovery. Meili may be
contacted for speaking engagements through the Web site.
