What is 'Twitter'?
Frankly, when I joined Twitter sometime back, it did not appeal to me as useful. Twitter essentially allows users to share what they are doing and post it on the main page like broadcasting. The deliverable about Twitter is that it is really simple, straight to the point and easy to understand. All you need to do is follow your friends for their latest update which will be appearing on your main page.
With just this function, Twitter is already growing twice as much as Facebook in terms of new users per week. Facebook has 5 million new users joining a week and just imagine how many users is joining Twitter. Twitter is the new buzz and latest trend on the Internet. Many people are going towards the direction of Twitter to get themselves updated with friends, co-workers or interest groups.
What is so special about Twitter?
Basically, Twitter should be considered as a Web 2.0 based website that enable interactions among users and at the same time share links and files. Setting up a Twitter network would probably means efficiency, especially in work groups where information can be effectively shared by the 'followers'. In the instance of social networking, users choose what kind of message to response to and what are important as most of the time, when your friends say something, they are probably rhetorical in nature. So this simple application allows you to choose and filter what you want or need to know from all the broadcast messages appearing on your Twitter main page.
Conclusion
Twitter has in my opinion, brought socialization to a whole new level but yet keeping it exceptionally simple and less complex.
