I was out shopping on this May Day Bank Holiday weekend and the bus was packed as usual with 12 year old boys all over the top and very excited to be on holiday in the Merry Month of May. However the boys got off the bus and I had time to collect my thoughts and was hugging to myself the news that my publishers had positioned me in the No 1 Slot on www.publishamerica.com in April 2009 so I was overjoyed and absolutely thrilled to arrive at No 1 in the United States of America with my book .. Rock Me as it wasnt exactly an over night success but nevertheless I can proudly say with confidence Rock Me is a success and I am proud of what I do.
I read the news from Paul McGrane Membership Manager of the Poetry Society London that it has been confirmed that Carol Ann Duffy has been appointed new Poet Laureate following in the footsteps of Andrew Motion who has just left the job having been Poet Laureate from 1999 to 2009. Carol Ann Duffy has got a ten year deal on this Job of Poet Laureate and her pay cheque will be about £5,500 upwards so its a good deal for Carol Ann Duffy. All members of the Poetry Society have been enthusing about Duffy's appointment so I shall do a little enthusing myself in this respect. I had Carol Ann Duffy's poems on my Exam Board in London together with Simon Armitage and so we read and read over and over the poems of Carol Ann Duffy so I hope we got the results the right way up and now I feel confident that we have since others are backing our decisions taken all those years ago in 2003 with this appointment of Carol Ann Duffy as Poet Laureate .. she was born in 1955!
