Factoidz has gotten a lot of publicity over the past few months by online writers, enticed by the 'high' earnings. The question is; does Factoidz really pay writers, or is it a scam?
Firstly, read the Terms of Use.
It very clearly states in sub-paragraph (p)
grant us an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, fully paid, worldwide license
to use, copy, perform, display, reproduce, adapt, modify and distribute the Content
and to prepare derivative works of, or to incorporate such Content into other works,
and to grant and to authorize sublicenses of the foregoing;
Hence, they take your copyright.
Secondly, all of their policies are arbitrary and you have absolutely no right to be heard. To contact the Administrator is close to impossible. In short, they do what they want, when they want, how they want.
If accepted as a writer you may post articles but can not edit or delete them. At some arbitrary point they advance you to Staff Writer where you can edit and delete your articles. At this point, most writers go to town, publishing their portfolio because their earnings seem to be enormous compared to another site, i.e. Triond.
After about 100 articles, one is dropped to Writer again. When one complains, one is then dropped to Member. A Member is NOT paid, but their work is USED.
As Member one can not get a list of their articles, nor what earnings Factoidz is gathering from the articles. Hence, they now 'own' the articles, (according to their Terms of Use) although not paying one cent for them.
As a fairly new site, the number of persons currently 'Staff Writers' and 'Writers' seems to be more than 'Members' although getting information from Factoidz is very difficult. Few persons can testify that they made $50 in a month, and received $50 for that month.
Those persons who do not write 'Tea Party' approved items, will be attacked by the other writers, and any retaliation, even deleting those comments will get the Writer demoted and/or banned. The writers work, however, will remain on site gathering revenue.
This site seems to be a scam. *
* Factoidz has proven to be a Ponzi scheme. The revenue earned from Members articles is used to pay those 'writers' and 'staff writers'.
Do Not Write for Factoidz!
