SharedTalk.com is a website where thousands of people from countless countries across the world can communicate with one another. The service is owned and operated by Rosetta Stone, and best of all, it is free. All you must do in order to use it is create a profile in which your native tongue/s are displayed as well as those you are studying. Once you've done that and written a brief description of yourself, you are entered into the member database. There you can connect with people who speak almost any language you can think of (well over 50), from French to German, Chinese to Arabic, Afrikaans to Ladino -- the selection is truly remarkable.
The site layout is very clean and intuitive. All options are laid out clearly on the main page as well as in a toolbar to the right side of the screen. Members have the options of using text correspondence, voice chat, and real-time chat rooms as well. All of this, and for the low, low price of absolutely free. What's not to like?
I personally have written back and forth with many interesting people through SharedTalk, from such countries as Russia, Italy, Poland, and Germany. If you wish to practice your skills with people living in all different corners of the globe, this site is the best that I have come across thus far. You never know, you could very well make some good friends there. I definitely have.
