Centuries ago , there were no mobile phones; no way to communicate with your loved ones except letters which were the only sources of communications.These letters took days and sometimes weeks to get from one place to another.
After another couple of centuries , came mobile phones along with internet messaging (chatting and e-mail services).
These were far better than the old way of communications as the messages were delivered and received almost instantaneously.This was the start of globalisation.
However with astonishing improvements in technology which could not be imagined by the people of that time, the world has gone beyond what it already is because of a new program called skype.
The uniqueness of this program is that , you can talk with your friends or family members and see what they are doing in real time!This is called video calling.
With a computer system, the program of course,a microphone and a web camera you can start talking with your friends/relatives and see what they are doing right away!
This software has in fact become so popular on mobiles and tablets that its available on all known app stores such as : android market,apple's app store etc.
If you want to talk with anyone on this application you and the person you have to talk with must both be online , as skype uses the internet for the calls.However if you want to call a person who is offline or if you want to video call with 3 or more people you have to pay for it , otherwise skype is free.
Skype depends on a few factors to work well.The factors are as follows:
- A strong , fast and healthy internet connection.(Your and your friends' / relatives' internet connections must be really good and fast for skype to work effectively and to get the full experience of using skype.A good internet connection is in fact the most important factor for a good skype experience.)
- Your speakers,microphones and webcam (if you want to video call) must work properly. (All these things should be connected to the main computer system.)
- A fast computer to get the full experience.(Skype also works well on a slow computer but you may experience problems so a fast computer is recommended).
The only problem I have had with skype is that the video quality is poor and I can't hear what the other person is saying when I turn on my video so I usually just call people instead of video calling them.
Don't worry about what I wrote above, I just told you about my own experience with skype.If you have a fast internet connection (which I unfortunately don't have) you should be able to video call effectively.
I recommend skype for everyone because its the best online calling and video calling application ever!
