Have you ever had a link that you wanted to share to other people but the problem was that it was too long and had way too many characters in it’s link? That’s a big problem as that link will take up a lot space, may exceed your character limit and it just looks really hideous.
TinyUrl is the solution to that problem. What it does is that it takes your long urls and converts into a shorter tinyurl link. This is helpful as it leaves more room for whatever else you want to say and it’s much simpler than seeing a link that has too many characters to count and it’s very clean.
Lets try this thing out. Say you want to link this article you found on Yahoo!. url isn’t that long but what if you had to make it short? Simply go onto TinyUrl.com and place the url into the box and make the tinyurl. Here is the result.
You’ve just turned a long link into a tiny one! The original link to the article had 80 characters. When it was converted, it had became shorter with 26 characters.
Not only does it turn into a shorter url but you can make the link you want to shorten into a TinyUrl with a custom alias. The alias in the last tinyurl are the letters and numbers after the / part which is 452a6pf. You can make a custom alias for the tinyurl by pasting it and then in the box for the custom alias, type in the name that you want. If you wanted to name it something like planetarticle, then type it in and make the tinyurl. There you go it should now become http://tinyurl.com/planetarticle.
Use this site to your advantage and make linking easier. It’s good for leaving more room, making links simple and clean and conserving more room in places that have a character limit (signatures, short messages, comments).
