Not only does it turn into a shorter url but you can make the link you want to shorten into a TinyUrl with a custom alias. The alias in the last tinyurl are the letters and numbers after the / part which is 452a6pf. You can make a custom alias for the tinyurl by pasting it and then in the box for the custom alias, type in the name that you want. If you wanted to name it something like planetarticle, then type it in and make the tinyurl. There you go it should now become http://tinyurl.com/planetarticle.
