Livejournal is an online blogging website that allows users to express
themselvs for others to read. There are many online blogging
sites out there today, but I believe that livejournal stands out among
them. The format is simple and easy to use, yet provides users
numerous options. There are many different layout options so that
the user can conform his or her blog to their own personalities.
Livejournal is a free site, but there are options to upgrade your
account for a fee. With these upgrades, you gain access to more
options, but none of these are necessary to using the site. When
a user signs up, they go through and fill out various things to create
their blog, including creating a user name and blog name. When
they are done, they are given the address of their blog, and can begin
creating entries.
The user also has the option of adding "friends," that is, other users
who they know, or at least wish to read their blog. By doing
this, they create a friends page, which they may click on to view the
journals of anyone on their friends list.
There is also friends
filtering, that allows the user to set his blog to be viewed by only
his friends, or only certain of his friends, or even only
himself.
There are also various groups, known as communities, on livejournal,
with specific interests. A user can search by interest in order
to find communities or users who share similare interests or hobbies,
thereby creating friendships. Once one joins a community, they
have the option of letting these community posts also go on their
friends page.
Livejournal is constantly working to improve their site, so that users
will be more satisfied. They have added more profile options, and
work to prevent site problems. All in all, in my opinion, live
journal is the best option out there today for online blogging.
With so many wonderful features, and ease of use, it just cannot be
beaten.
