careerbuilder.com

Website Review   by:ERahem

Careerbuilder.com is a great source for finding employment in your area.   Navigating through the website is very easy, and best of all, free!  There are three ways to find employment on careerbuilder.com, all of which are very clearly displayed on the homepage.  First, you can search for employment by entering some key words such as job title, company name, or even skills that you may possess.  Follow that up with a city, then enter the state in the available drop-box.  You may put in your hometown or the major city that is closest to you.  Either way, it will list open employment opportunities in a fifty mile radius.  Second way to find employment, and not just employment, real jobs for real people!  Click on the Job Alert tab.  You can place in the search box your desired postion and any other key words that you feel may be relevant.  You can then add up to three Job Categories from the site's list of over 50 named categories.  You can then select three different locations, a wonderful feature if you are planning to relocate, but are not sure where to go yet.  Select the distance you want from the selected locations, as stated earlier, up to 50 miles.  Finally, enter the frequency of your Job Alerts feature, do you want to receive employment opportunites  via email once a day, or once a week.  The choice is yours!  The third option available to the unemployed or incredibly unhappy with their job type of person is to post your resume and let employers find you.
I have used this option the most, and I couldn't believe the phone calls that I received from employers wanting interviews.  I had four calls two days after I posted my resume on the site!   The best thing about this feature is the easy nature of it.  If you have a saved resume in MS Word form, you can simply upload it, complete the information pages that follow, which will take you all of five minutes, and proceed to release your resume to the universe.  For those of you who do not have a resume, or have a resume in a format other than MS Word, you can create a resume tailored to your needs such as salary paid, or hourly paid.  As if careerbuilder.com hasn't done enough to help people find better employment, the site provides a wealth of information unmatched by other employment websites.  For example, click on Advice & Resources.  Here you will find Business Opportunities, Education, Online Learning, Credit, Career Training and Advice, etc.  You can also find upcoming job fairs in your area.  So, if you are an unemployed or unhappy person because your job is dragging you down, heed my suggestion to visit careerbuilder.com.  It won't be a waste of time!
