The author begins his article with three judgements:One,once America's two parties change power,the new administration's
first year would definitely see a deterioration in Sino American relations.Two,the initial policy of each administration(even more extreme one),once rebuffed,would change gradually and go back to the track of improvement for Sino American relations.Three,Sino U.S.relations have never been a smooth sailing.However,even some crises happen,the relations would not break down, some mutual treatments would finally repair the damage.The events during the past 6 months proved the judgements.Still,people should be vigilant against the U.S.“making distinct”of its Taiwan policy.This is because the current US administration thought that now it should give Taiwanese leaders more freedom to transit America and give Taiwan more sophisticated weapons.Most importantly,the US policy towards Taiwan is going to be“distinct”instead of“ambiguous”.The author,however,points out that over the past decade an increasing economic interdependence was seen between the two countries and economic and trade relations have become the important stabilizer and reliable basis for the development of the bilateral relationship.Besides,the two way exchanges have already reached each and every area.This multi level linkage between the two countries serves as the keel for the great vessel of Sino American relations.So,we must strive to overcome all obstacles and seek stability from the undulation,seek development from the turbulence.
