Sino-Japanese political relations have entered into a changeable and tortuous period, achieving phasic
development; imbalance development has taken place in SinoJapanese political and economic relations; the duality of Japan's China policy has become prominent; Sino-Japanese relations have been restrained by US element; the problems existed between China and Japan have taken on a longterm and complicated trend. Looking into the 21st century, the overall Sino-Japanese relations will not be changed. The development of both China and Japan needs a favorable Sino-Japanese relationship. Meanwhile with the lapse of the most difficult time, new development opportunity is waiting ahead for Sino-Japanese relations after adjustment and runningin period in recent years. The framework of future Sino-Japanese relations will be: maintaining political dialogue and continued economic
cooperation, expanding coordination in diplomacy and strengthening exchanges in defense. However, dialogue and friction still exist in bilateral relations, so do cooperation and competition, coordination and struggle, exchange and contradiction. However, cooperation will not lead to alliance, while friction will not lead to confrontation either.
