The LDP's stepping down and Hosokawa's organization of a coalition
government were the first act in the political reshuffling
in Japan. Its second act was the establishment of the Hata's minority
government. In the second act, most of the
political parties, in power or in opposition, have lost more than they gained. The loss outweighted the gain for Ozawa's strategy. The LDP declined daily. The image of the Socialist Party was damaged. And the Japan new party was not new at all. The Japanese nationals have shown worries and concern about the confusion in the nation's political situation after Hosokawa's resignation. There are three different possible future developments in Japan's political situation. One is to hold the general election under the present medium-sized constituency system and thismay be the relatively greater possibility. The general election is to be held under a new election system. The third possibility is that the general election is held without Hata's dissolution of the Diet but w ignation of the entire cabinet to set up a new coalition government. It is only through a long time of turmoil that "the Warring States Period" in the Japanese political situation can come to an end. A faction to revise the Constitution is gaining strength in Japanese politics, and this has caused people's concern.
