Tourist industry of
West Hunan faces enormous challenges along with the formation of the Grand Yangtse Three Gorges tourist
area. It is the fundamental way to construct the Gold Triangle tourist area and form tourist company groups in
West Hunan. The Gold Triangle is rich in tourist resources, and has good transport facilities and advantageous location. In the Triangle area the tourist market has been mature and preferential policies for tourism development are implemented. The combination of Zhangjiajie City, Jishou City and Yuanling County serves as the core of the Gold Triangle. It is very important for the Triangle to carry out unified development strategies, including those of tourism image, good brand of tourist products and sustainable development. Meanwhile, it is necessary to take some measures to construct the Gold Triangle of West Hunan. Firstly, a new travel passage to West Hunan should be opened up. Secondly, priority should be given to the development of the core area. Thirdly, the governments should play a leading role in tourist development and a unified tourism market should be constructed. Last, a tourist network in West Hunan should be built up step by step.
