Prospects of the "Road Map" to the peace between Palestine and Israel

Article Abstract by: TsingHua

This abstract was translated from 巴以和平“路线图”前景展望
The proposal of the Road Map to the peace of the middle east and the consensus on this that has been reached among different
parties concerned make it possible to restore the peaceful negotiations and ease the tension between Palestine and Israel. It also creates conditions to start a good beginning and pave the way of solving the differences that have lasted for a quite long time during the past period. But both Palestine and Israel differ very much on the "Road Map so it will be difficult to realize the objective of the Road Map in the shortest time possible. The designing of such a Road Map for President Bush has two important objectives to achieve: firstly repairing US relations with all Arab states, secondly creating conditions for Bush himself to be reelected as the President of the US. The people of the world will wait and see if the above objectives be achieved or not. The problem existed between Palestine and Israel has both historical background and realistic complex situation. It seems that both sides still have a long way to go in solving this difficult and complicated problem.
