While small town living has its many perks, the downside to living in a small town is far outweighed by the good.
Living
in a small town, I speak from first hand experience, where its not about what you have done, but about who you know and who they know.
In this small town I live in for example, we have a D.A. whos ego is bigger than the state of Texas. He abuses his power to feed his overly large ego. A good example of this is the fact that a child, albeit having a slight criminal history, was charged with attempted murder, in adult court, for the
beating of a classmate while on school campus. The D.A. eventually reduced the charges to what they should have been to begin with, which was aggravated battery.
This is where the who you know, and who they know
politics come into play. Had this situation been reversed the child who was giving the beating would have merely gotten a slap on the wrist.
The only solution to this sort of problem is to really speak up and voice your opinion, make your vote count come election time, and always stand up for what is right.
