Do not panic it’s the Prime ministers

Article Abstract by: chebella

Do not panic it’s the Prime ministers motorcade.

The article below is  typical example of
how In India , where I reside , Democracy is a matter of conveneience and not the norm as it claims.
So, when I get to know there is a huge sale at this shoe store near my residence, I scurry with dinner so I can make it in time for the Sale   So, I rush my folks to get me there in time. We start off and go smoothly, only to reach this huge choc –a- block traffic jam! So I get anxious because the showroom would shut and then the entire effort would be futile.   So, at first I blame the traffic lights for the unnecessary and uncalled for traffic jam. My anxiety makes me restless and agitated, the reason being that I will miss the sale.   After being held up for 25 minutes we learn that it is the PM who is about to pass the road  and so the traffic is seized. The cops on the road are  ensuring that no cyclist or pedestrian is on the road just so the PM is not obstructed by their movement .The cop is not concerned with the motorist, who is going on the wrong side of the road, or if he has a license to drive at all. The cop is only watching out that no security measures are breached.   Being a spectator to this act, I suddenly get the notion that what is the fate of a terminally ill patient held up in this traffic? If in case the person does lose his life due to this traffic, is It  justified? We as a democratic country have been fed with the perception that a democracy is for the people, of the people and by the people. At the same time the PM is the first citizen of the country which actually makes him celestial in our country. The safety and security, of the PM or for that matter even the President, have made the laws of our country apathetic to the existence of the masses. The masses, such as us, accustomed to such age-old laws, have accepted these laws as our providence. We need to remove the blind-fold from our eyes and voice out our anguish and despair. Ignoring this situation is one painless elucidation to this quandary. But to that I pose the question, whether  that would be a prudent and levelheaded judgment on our part?   I as the budding youth of our country would really like to evaluate this situation because I believe every life is sacrosanct. We as an element of the 21st century need to redraft and amend the laws that have been formulated ages ago, which probably suited the life-style of people back then .Laws are meant to evolve with the people and  their life- styles. The inability of laws to acclimatize to the varying state of affairs could hinder and in fact inhibit the evolution of Our  Nation as a whole.     In the end all I can say is that I may and could have missed a trivial episode, such that, of a shoe sale. But, there could be an instance when any one of us might have more at stake than a shoe sale. The 25 minute hold –up was an eye –opener to me , I  would be hopeful that  the above serves as an eye-opener to the reader.
