1. Cold killing of
innocent civilians in the name of encounter in Cannought Place, New Delhi, India.
2. Inhumane torture of young Muslim youth in the name of countering terrorism without any meaningful evidence against them in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
3. Torturing/killings of Muslims or perceived Muslims in the name of fight against terrorism (USA- Shooting Sikhs for mistaking them as Muslims).
4. Blatant abuse of "Patriot Act" resulting in detainment of innocent Muslims or perceived Muslims (USA).
Now, what does this tell us? It is one thing to make a law, and quite another to follow the
law in its true spirit.
Let''s talk about the innocent Muslim youths of Hyderabad first. They were detained without any charge, at unknown locations and tortured inhumanely. They were asked to sign on a confession. No records in the police register. This is India of 21st century for you. They seem to have pamphlets and CDs showing scenes of Gujrat riot. Guess what! That is what was enough for lifting the youths from workplace, home or elsewhere and subjecting them to torture. The youths probably didn''t even know how to spell the word terrorism or define it.
This is a double standard of India
government towards their citizens. I heard that hundreds of thousands of video cassettes and provocative materials were distributed amongst Hindus after Babari Masjid Demolition showing how government had brutally killed Hindus. It was all propaganda from Hindu fundamentalists and fanatics. If what I heard was true, many of the top leaders of India should be behind bar today.
What face are we bent upon showing to the outside world? The young Hindu boys who felt their blood boiling after seeing these videos were anything but terrorists, and are serving the government by holding high positions today.
What is wrong, if such pamphlets are found in the drawers of the Muslims? Who are the criminals? Can government of India dare to touch those who are distributing these provocative CDs? We all know the answer.
End of the day, it is the same old story. Weak is condemned to suffer and strong are going to use and justify their power. It is high time National Human Rights Commission look into these issues and takes stringent actions. We don''t want innocent citizens turning into terrorist. No matter what we say and do, I don''t believe these young Muslims will ever forgive or forget what happened to them. If you are human you will understand where I am coming from.
Let''s talk about the killings in the name of encounter.
Justice delayed is justice denied, they say. Yes, we can find solace from the fact that justice has been served. But the burning question which keeps haunting us is that why are we always reactive and not proactive. Why does it take us so long to do the right thing?
There are some fundamental issues in our justice system that needs to be sorted out. The entire justice system needs a major revamp or else we will see these infamous acts done time and again.
Now, some reality checks and solace to Muslims. Trust me, the people in power will find an excuse to abuse their power whether you are a Hindu or a Muslim, (if they want to). Across the board, they are the same. What you saw in Hyderabad is a manifestation of the same problem with a particular face. I am aware of Hindus who cannot get an FIR done after murder attack on them. I am also aware of Hindus who are detained in police stations for no fault of theirs. Bye the way, did I mention that a Hindu can be brutally wounded and would be in dire need for medical assistance or transportation but he will be denied by the Indian Police. O hell, I forgot to mention that you can be asked to sign on a blank paper or on some legal paper by Indian police, if you are a Hindu. No big deal. Come to the state of Bihar and see all this happening with your own eyes.
USA has practiced slavery for several hundred years and we have learnt a lot from them. I meaneak havoc on your citizens. Bye and bye we are becoming the master of this art. They just forget to mention every time we make a deal with them that it is a package deal. Take it or leave it.
Think about it. If these young youth enters into a state of isolation, alienation and only think of revenge, who would you blame? If they think of suicide bombing that police station or court, who would you blame?
Let''s keep creating more terrorists, until we realize our fault. Alas, I hope, it is not too late, by then.
