A
STUDENT who came from Pakistan to
study at a Scottish
university
was jailed for six years yesterday after becoming a recruiting sergeant
for Muslim extremists.
Abdul Rahman, 25, who arrived in Britain to study biotechnology at
Abertay University in Dundee, is the first person to be convicted of a
charge of disseminating
terrorist information.
Rahman pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday to
possessing articles for the
purpose of
terrorism, dissemination of
terrorist
propaganda and aiding or abetting the breach of a control
order.
Rahman came to the UK in September 2004 on a student visa, but the
day after enrolling at university in Dundee, he quit his course and
travelled to Manchester, where he met other Muslim young men.
