Its the weekend again and this business of linking
politics with poetry has for the most part keep me up past the dawn.
I had a time of complete satisfaction in all that I had achieved and in particular my book signing of my book/Rock Me at the Poetry Cafe in Covent Garden London with author: SM Thompson and Ely Ahamed was such a success and so well attended I felt that I had climbed the mountain and got to the top and all I had to do was slide back into my flat.
Not so, I assure you. I was "dug up" again by the Political agenda of Ireland and
found myself involved in a writing on the
subject of
Politics and Poetry inspired by
Paul Muldoon''s poems. It reminded me of that review I read years ago on
Professor Paul Bew of Queens University Belfast Northern Ireland''s book on
the Sinn Fein President''s work/Gerry Adams.
Talking about banning books, Adams book .. working title .... The Street ... was banned in the Republic of Ireland so the link between poetry and politics seems to have landed on my lap ... I still get myself in a bit of a groove on this taboo subject of politics and poetry, however, I am climbing out of the hole and all''s well in the end ... the link is permanent between poetry and politics .......... excellent stuff from researching The Times ..
1995/7 - Southampton Executive Club! Controversy reigns supreme!
Keep on reading The Times ......... great stuff!
