Showcasing writing or looking up one's former teachers before they die became a past time in 1992 when I met with my
Headteacher before she died, but I was reminded this morning when I got up off my knees from praying that I had a
teacher of English and a teacher who inspired my love of
poetry with specific reference to WB Yeats called Mrs Collins! True but then she had many students so I am sure she forgot all about me in 1962. In fact every time they mentioned her name for years I thought that they were referring to my school friend Miss Collins or the IRA/Michael Collins! No, not so.... they were referring to Mrs. Collins .... WB Yeats came up again at College in England and echoed my experience --- being a great student in childhood with my ten A grades everyone was pleased with me so it was with fear and angst that I entered the Technical College world of the same Mrs. Collins ... she had bright red hair and wore a blue suit .......... I small for my age was in the seat one down from the frontrow and I scribbled away at the poetry as if my life and career depended upon it ... Mrs. Collins used to comment on my diligence but I never heard much after that ..... as I left the country. just a walk down memory lane ........ remembering teachers who influence children in favour of Poetry dare I say it ......... Irish Poetry. Great teaching great teacher was the same Mrs. Collins of Ireland .... keep on writing ... Mr and Mrs. Clinton as you remind me of those days of my childhood as you two are about the same age as me .... and I know you love Ireland .... an eternal love affair I guess! I have lived in America near San Francisco years ago ...........
