PARIS: France''s foreign minister says a Chadian
opposition leader who went
missing during a rebel attack on the capital
of the one-time French colony is alive.
Bernard Kouchner said Sunday that Yorongar Ngarledji had arrived in Yaounde, Cameroon, coming from the northeast province of Garoua. Cameroon shares a border with Chad.
There was no word of another
opposition figure, Mohamed Saleh, since his early February disappearance.
The men vanished amid a rebel attack starting Feb. 2 aimed at toppling Chadian President Idriss Deby. Some claim Deby used the confusion to crack down on rivals.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy has demanded the truth on the men''s whereabouts.
