RAMALLAH: A Palestinian teenager was shot dead by an Israeli
settler in the occupied West Bank on Monday, Israeli and Palestinian
sources said.
Mohammed Saleh Shreiteh, 15, was shot in the head when an Israeli settler opened fire on a group of youths throwing stones at cars outside the settlement of Talmon near West Bank''s political capital of Ramallah, army radio reported quoting witnesses.
Earlier, Palestinian medics and security
sources said the boy was killed by fire from Israeli soldiers in the area.
Since Israel and the Palestinians revived their peace talks in late November after a seven-year freeze, at least 318
people have been killed, most of them militants in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.
Monday''s death brings to 6,281 the number of people killed since the start of the second Palestinian uprising in September 2000, the vast majority of them Palestinians.
