Indonesian 2nd President, Bapak HM Soeharto has
passed away. His life was full of controversies. After his left, his philosphy ''mikul dhuwur, mendhem jero'' needs to be resounded. For those who have done many favors for us, both personally and socially, the search for the meaning of ''mikul dhuwur, mendhem jero is a must. We need to honor him because of his contribution to the people of Indonesia (mikul dhuwur). There is a term in latin ''de mortuis nil nisi bene non male which suggests us to only remember good
deeds. It applies to everyone, not only for the riches, rulers, or powerful people. It happens in all cultures if not most of the cultures that there will be a reading of good deeds in every
funeral. The list of wrong deeds or failures will also be buried. Nobody deserves the reading, neither Mbah Kromo, a peasant from Belikrejo, or Kang Wanto, a fisherman from Brotojoyo, or Mbok Inem, a maid from Wonogiri. The rich people in Indonesia has an important role because there is no
political party in Indonesia has a financial security. No party survives only from its membership fee. It is a public secret if the
main political party involved in the
government tries it best to place its people to sit on potential position in government departments and BUMN (companies of the state). Its main purpose is get as many fund as possible. The bad image of this political party is used by anti-party to issue the personal candidate in the Public Election.During the funeral, we often hear the family speaks, "If our beloved passed away still has things to do, please kindly inform us that we will continue taking care of it." This statement becomes important, both in personal or social level. There is a responsibility to handle the passed away''s problems. The simple problems such as a small amount of debts should be forgotten in order to lighten the family''s burden. The new
rule of political party still give chances to the growth of oligarchy and plutocracy. The rule is not specifically manage the transparency and accountability. Those are assumed as a part of party''s independence to take care of its household. The bigger and bigger donation given individually and unworthy punishment for the rule breaker are some clues that there is a leak in the government system that can be misused to get one''s own profit. The absence of punishment for parties that do not apply the rules in its internal organization indicates that the party can be used as the political power. The application of internal democracy in the party guarantees the role and its main function as education tools, communication, and recruitment and need aggregation as well.Many of his opposites, the victims of his policies and power has forgot his mistakes. But similar to Mbah Kromo, Kang Wanto, and Mbok Inem''s funeral, the passed away''s debts should be deeply paid attention.
