Better Quit rather than being totally irresponsible & inefficient
The unexpected summer rain alone couldn’t be blamed for the severe agricultural loss occurred in Kuttanad. The fact that the farmers were allowed for harvesting only with the consent of the local CPM party office delayed the harvesting. In spite of shortage of man power for the harvesting, harvester machines were not allowed too added severity to the issue.
Despite all these the CPM government is interested in the politicization of the issue alone. There is no justification that a solution for the much delayed harvesting in Kuttanad has not yet been found.
The CPM on one side is agitating against the filling up of paddy field and destroys the crops planted there, and on the other side the party won’t allow the farmers who continue in paddy crop to harvest on time. This double stand, for ensuring the workers to be loyal to the party and nourish it, is totally unacceptable and should be condemned.
Compensation for the farmers is essential and it may be a comfort to them, but is not going to bring back the lost crops. Who is then the real looser?
The state government criticized that the central government has not taken effective measures as taken by ‘some state governments’ in controlling the prices. Then why can’t Kerala state government take the same effective measure taken by some state governments? The CPM lead government will continue to argue that it’s because of the inefficiencies and wrong policies of the central government, wrong policies of the previous government, and even that of the coming governments, but absolutely not because of theirs! If unwilling to take any responsibility then why can’t they quit? After all policy of ‘agitation along with administration’ alone is the ‘constructive’ contribution of the present government!
