Yesterday, a group
of American Jews called on U.S. President-elect Barrack Obama to transfer U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to
Jerusalem in a move declined so far by American presidents to be taken in view of controversy still present about status of the holy city.
In the West Jerusalem, a gathering of about 100 Jewish extremists spotted in an area chosen by the U.S. Congress in 1995 for U.S. embassy establishment in the future.
The participants sang American national anthem and waved banners reading; "President Obama: capital of Israel must be established where the U.S. embassy should be."
An approved resolution was passed by Congress in 1995 to transfer the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem in 1999 but successive American administrations delayed its implementation.
