Saudi women strike back at religious police

What is advancement if certain rights are not allowed to people in general? There are a few countries in the world left today that are based on the theocratic system of rules. The birth place of Islam is Saudi Arabia, and that country despite having tremendous financial progression is rolling under the shadow of repression in the name of religion.
Religion is one’s own choice that should not be imposed through force. After all the way of life must be the preference of individual, which is religion in one sense. The man made stigmas under the guise of religion are troubling common people against their strong wishes. Why should one follow a trivial rule if he does not have his mind in it? The ‘religious police’ in Saudi Arabia has been made to see that everybody is following the dictats of Islam without fail. Some incidents happened recently that illustrate the over doing of the religious police. A Saudi woman was spending time with a man alone in Ha’il, when the religious police reached there. Sniffing big problem, the woman started shooting at the police to facilitate the man to escape from their hold. What happened to the woman is not reported. In another incident, a police officer was hard punched by a woman, so that he had to be hospitalized for treatment. Women in that country often face humiliation, says Wajitha Huwaidar, a human rights activists in Saudi Arabia. She is of the opinion that this type of happenings would increase, as women are reluctant to bear the dishonor any more.
