Rs 1-cr road ruined in 2 months
This is yet another bright example of rampant corruption in the government sector. Money is sanctioned to build roads, bridges, schools, parks, and so on for the convenience of public, but the money goes into the pockets of corrupt officials through their pet contractors, who are not bothered to do the quality work that has been specified in the contract, because they know there is nobody to check their substandard work. Who will check the work? The people responsible for the checking are receiving money from the contractors; hence have no right to make complaint against them.
This is sorry story of a road called Adenwala Road that runs from Five Gardens to Maheshwari Udyan showed every possible signs of inferior quality. Six months’ of construction period with rupees one crore expenditure went into void when the road finally caved in after developing cracks within two months of its opening.
The resident in that area first took up the matter with the F/North ward, which passed the buck to the Central Agency responsible for major roads constructions. That agency too did not heed to the plea of the residents in the beginning, but with strong protests the officials agreed to do something. They like the politicians stated to take action against the contractor if found the work is of inferior quality. What nonsense these officials were talking, as the road has already has gone down few feet. Can’t they think of some acceptable excuse to hide their wrong doings? Shame on the Bombay Municipal Corporation that really is pain on the back of the residents of Mumbai. The taxpayer’s money is wasted through corrupt ways and pockets of the government officials are getting filled.
