Who's backing Hasan Ali?
If someone has evaded tax to the tune of rupees forty thousand crores, and taken the money abroad, then it is well understood that some top ranking politicians and bureaucrats are involved in this. Pune based Hasan Ali, the alleged tax evader, is in custody of Enforcement Directorate, and the Supreme Court is supervising the progress of the investigation in this matter. The reported confession of Hasan Ali disclosing the names of three former Maharashtra Chief Ministers and bureaucrats is serious in nature, for which a probe has been demanded by the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra state assembly Pandurang Phundkar. Isn’t the demand justified? On this demand the Chairman of the legislative council has taken initiative directing the government to check the veracity of the news report that says Hasan Ali has laundered the money belonging to three former chief ministers of the state. Apparently all these chief ministers are likely to be from the congress party, which had in the past 7 to 10 years more than four chief ministers. The first objection came from the state education minister Rajendra Darda, who wanted the government to ignore the matter since it only appeared in the news report.
Without doubt we can presume that Hasan Ali alone could not smuggled so huge sum of money from the country without the political connection.
