Government changes tack again, distances itself from CVC would it be wrong to say PM stands for Prime Manipulator rather than the Prime Minister?
The appointment of the Central Vigilance Commissioner by the three member committee that selected P J Thomas, a man already charged with corruption, is utterly wrong and has been done by defying and ignoring the facts placed in the committee by the leader of the opposition Sushma Swaraj. The matter has gone to the Apex Court and in the hearing the Attorney General GE Vahanvati, the counsel for the government, told the court that the charge sheet information about Thomas was not placed in the committee at the time of selection of CVC. The committee was comprised of three members: the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Home Minister Chidambaram, and the leader of the opposition Sushma Swaraj. The first two members belong to congress party, which is facing end number of corruption charges that includes the 2G spectrum scam. In this respect the PIL filed contended the selection of Thomas as the CVC is now being heard in the bench of Supreme Court consists of the Chief Justice S H Kapadia, Justice K S Radhakrishnan, and Justice Swatanter Kumar. There is a pending charge-sheet against Thomas in Kerala Palmolein Import case, which was mentioned in the selection committee by the third member BJP’s Sushma Swaraj, but was not given importance by the PM and the HM for the very reason that they wanted this tainted man in the CVC chair to manipulate things in the 2G spectrum corruption case in its favor. Swaraj refused to accept the selection of Thomas as the CVC and even requested other two members to wait for a day to check the charge-sheet against Thomas, which also was not done by the PM and the HM and appointed Thomas in the CVC post. Judges’ consistent questioning on the government has baffled the AG Vahanvati and he is telling something or other that is sheer childish. What could he do? He is telling what has been told to him to say. Do these people, including Vahanvati, have any self respect?
We knew the PM Manmohan Singh is an honest person, but this perception is changing with every passing day by his acts of associating with all corrupt people around him. The term puppet prime minster seems to be absolutely right in the wake of manipulating his power as prime minister by his party, which could not have been possible without his consent, as and when it is required.
