SC refuses to give exemption to Jayalalithaa from personal appearance in court

What an irony is this! The people who are elected by the people to represent them in the government are the ones most corrupt. These corrupt people are always in the lookout to grab power to get away from their corruption related cases by giving lame excuses. Time has certainly changed from the past when a minister or an influential politician could easily get away from cases against them simple by delay tactics. Today in India the people have become more awaken in nature to understand how they have been fooled since the independence in 1947.

The Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha may have captured the power of the state from another corrupt party DMK; but she forgets that cases against her are in the court relating to corruption. The disproportionate asset case against her is pending in the Karnataka trial court and she has been summoned by the court to be present there, which she does not want to do. It was not accepted by the court; hence she went to Supreme Court to get the exemption from present in the trial court personally. The bench of SC Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma could not find any merit to give her exemption on grounds Salve mentioned and gave Salve one weeks time to get her preferable time to inform to the court. The bench has accepted the security concern of Jayalalitha, the current chief minister of TN and assured Salve that it would order the trial court to arrange adequate security for the chief minister on the fixed date of her appearing in the court.

The way the country’s Apex Court is behaving these days seems to be much different from days gone by. Had the same behavior was maintained all along after the independence, this rotten system would not have created in the first place?

As all corrupt politicians say, Jayalalitha too tried to get away by saying that the DMK government filed cases against her for political reasons. If we believe her, then she should have appeared in the court long before and proved that she is no way involved in any corruption. In this particular case she has been accused to have accumulated rupees 66 crores in the period between 1991 and 1996.
