I keep reading articles and hearing on the news about how cruel and
unusual the death penalty is. Why? Obviously, the person sentenced to
death for taking human life does not consider death either cruel or
unusual. It seems to me the only thing anybody in American law
concerns themselves about is protecting the rights of the criminal. So
here''s what I propose. If a person is convicted of killing another
person and there are three or more credible witnesses, there should be
no appeal process. Furthermore, the person convicted of taking a life
should die by whatever means his victim died. If that person raped a
girl, cut her arms off and threw her off a bridge to die then that is
his sentence. If the killer raped an 11-year old girl to death, I''m
sure there''s plenty of big, scary guys in prison who''d enjoy the chance
to take the killer''s life the same way. Offer it as a reward for
good behavior. There have even been complaints that an execution took
longer than thirty minutes. The obvious question is, "How fast did the
victim die?" If a killer was merciful enough to put a bullet in his
victim’s head, or used some other means resulting in a quick death,
then his (or her) death should be a twin to the crime committed.
Compassion and mercy are God-given, but neither is a RIGHT. If
you offered neither in the commission of your crime, neither should be
available to you through the course of law. Pedophilia should be a
crime punishable by death also as it ends the victim''s ability to lead
any kind of normal life. Last on the list of crimes punishable by
death, but not least, is manufacture of controlled substances like
methamphetamine or crack. Eventually, our society would wipe out those
with the knowledge to make these poisons and maybe the slow poisoning
of our country would stop.
