Mallika's brother booked under FEMA in Mumbai
This country has been taken granted by the moneyed people who think that through connection and influence every illegal act could be managed. This is fourth case of hiding foreign currency and dutiable goods from the customs in the recent times. The Bollywood celebrity Mallika Sherawat’s brother Vikram Lamba did not bother to declare pound 13,000 and other electronics items with him and straightway went to green channel, where he was confronted by the customs officials and found the cash and items with him. Naturally he was detained at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Terminal in Mumbai today morning after his arrival by the Emirate flight. Lamba arrived from London by an Emirate flight via Dubai. According to Deputy Commissioner of Customs Sameer Wankhede, Lamba neither declared the foreign currency nor the electronic items worth lacs of rupees to the customs, which is an offence under Foreign Exchange Maintenance Act (FEMA). He is being interrogated by the officials of customs and also the exact valuation of the goods is being assessed.
Two other cases of Bollywood celebrities we knew in the last month – one is Bipasa Basu and the other is Minisha Lamba. Before that the famous Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan too was detained for carrying huge amount of foreign currency at the Delhi International airport.
