Yemen & USA and the horizons of developing their mutual relations!

Article Summary   by:fidahussein     Original Author: Karam H AL-Hashmi

Part (1) :The friendly relationship between my country and USA goes back to many years ago, but that relation was specifically with the so-called at that time "The Arabic Republic of yemen" which was the northern part of the home land "Yemen". South Yemen before unification in 1990, was under a communist regime supported by the "Soviet Union", though that regime made us live behind solid black curtains and have no contact whatsoever with the other free world and the only publications available in the libraries were talking about the marxism & leninism and class struggle, etc.,, but still we were more educated and more civil than those who were living under a free regime such as the northern republic comparing with South Yemen!.

Now, since we became one nation living under the umberalla of one State, we must seek for a better relationship with not only the United States of America as a government but also with it's nation as well! Most of us whom were born and raised in South Yemen and especially in Aden, we were acquainted with the American life style before any other Arab people in the Arabian penninsula, that civilazation came to us or invaded us through the Western movies and western magazines that used to be distributed the many libraries during the time of the British Occupation to South Yemen and this western civilization had continued until the year 1968 when the British Troops started leaving Aden!.
Honestly saying that the United kingdom had extended to us good education and I wish to thank all my teachers 'Ladies & Gents" for their contribution to our learing system in Aden and other parts of South Yemen, despite their country's occupation to our country which was seen by all measure as a night mare!.
Today, many Yemeni generations are born, live and work in Britain, and the majority are not from South yemen, but from the north, and vice versa many Yemeni genrations are born, live and work in the United States, isn't this a strange phenomena?.
I am urging the US adminstration to enhance its friendly relatgionship with the people of Yemen more than to only make this relationship limited with formal government personnels! I need to strenghten the relationship with the American people whom we regard as very friendly than any oither western nation, I had a very good impression from so many american whom I met in diffrent occasions!.
The Support and the assitance that stem from the United States must be for the yemeni nation in first place and we must see that this support and assistance is making a difference in the Yemeni social and economical life standard, their must be a close connection between the civil society organizations in both countries, in order to understand the culture and education that both have to exchange with each other for the mutual benefit of our both nations. I feel that we now much more about the american life style and their culture, than they do!.
On occassion of Juses Cris birth day and the X'Mass day I wish all the Chritians in the world good health,

to be continied.
