Chartered Accountant : Why Indian Revenue Services Do Not Prefer C.A.

Academic Paper Review by: HKUMAR

Original Author: H KUMAR
It is certainly a discrimination to Chartered Accountants who are treated
as 'EXPERTS' in Taxation & Accounts and are
not given 'PREFERENCE' to other candidates for IRS (Indian Revenue Services).  Rather IRS should take Chartered Accountants as 'ONLY' eligible candidates like in IES (Indian Engineering Services) where 'ENGINEERS' are taken as 'ONLY' eligible candidates.
All learned Chartered Accountants will agree that no one else other than a Chartered Accountant better knows Taxation whether it's Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Excise, Custom or any other relevant law to Indian Revenue Services.   Apart from that Taxation is inseparable from Accounts and a Chartered Accountant only is able to provide services in both areas simultaneously.
How a person coming from Science, Maths or Arts can know the muscle power of Accounts and Taxation ?  It's only the Chartered Accountants who are well equipped with all weapons of Accounts and Taxation.  If they are taken in Indian Revenue Services they will certainly be able to increase revenue of government.
In my opinion a direct entry should be given to Chartered Accountants in Indian Revenue Services.  What do you think ?
Thanks
