Mumbai businessman held for raping daughters
When the news of keeping his
daughter in closed
custody, and raping her for long 24 years by her father Joseph Fritzl of Austria, we were shocked. Now similar news in our back yard has made us dumb found.
The father, a
businessman (name not disclosed) indulged in this crime with his elder daughter for ten years from the time she was 11 years old. She is now 21 years of age. Then he put his eye on the younger daughter, and committed the same crime five months ago, and continued. The elder sister probably could not accept his father’s heinous act on her sister, and
reported the same to her maternal grandmother. The mother of both daughters knew this all along but, instead of stopping him, rather encouraged her husband to continue with the act.
According to police information, a Tantric, Hasmukh Rathod influenced both the husband and wife advising the father to rape his daughters for the overall betterment of the family. The Tantric too got involved in raping the younger daughter. The police have arrested all the accused and interrogating them for detail information. Mukund Mahajan, police officer is investigating the case further. Incidents of incestuous happenings have been reported earlier both in India and abroad.
The most recent one is the Josef Fritzl case in Austria. The man locked her up in a subterranean dungeon for 24 years, and treated her as a sex slave. He not only raped her cruelly, also fathered seven children with his daughter. It is known that he is going to plead for his crime to minimize the sentence. He is also being charged for murder of a person along with this crime.
Some other cases of incestuous behaviour in India earlier reported are;
A man raped his 13 year old daughter in Bhopal when she complained to him of rape by her cousin. 4th February, 2009, in April, 2005, a person repeatedly raped her daughter in Hyderabad, Birendra Kumar, a SDM in Kanpur raped her 25 year old daughter in succession making her pregnant, and a principal and two teachers of an institution for the handicapped girls, raped six girls aged between 15 and 21 years for over a year.
Incidents like these may not be that high like other crimes, but many a cases definitely not reported due to inability of government agencies to reach far and away for various reasons. Whatever is reported must be considered as terrible, and adequate punishment must be meted out to the offenders.
