Detained for being a Khan, says 'humiliated' Shah Rukh
When an innocent is stopped and detained at
any US airport by the authorities, do they act on the prior information, or just on the look and surnames? Shah Rukh Khan’s detention without any reason is the domineering attitude of the US authority in their country. The same treatment to US nationals would be appropriate to make them understand the meaning of
humiliation in real sense.
Shah Rukh is not the first time traveler to America. A little checking of his passport and other documents would have been enough for the authorities to come out of their misapprehension. Shah Rukh was detained for two hours for nothing. Why he was not allowed to call the consulate or embassy in this period? This shows the whims of the authority without accountability.
This type of incidents is causing the rift between people of different countries. Hatred increases in the minds of common people, when they see their compatriots are humiliated unnecessarily. Biased thinking is dangerous in the part of security personnel as it boomerangs in a way that is bigger in amplitude.
The government of America has every right of checking people coming to their country like other governments all over the globe. We are mentally disturbed with the increasing effect of terrorism. Every country needs to respond appropriately to stop terrorism acts in that country. That is fine so long it is within the normal limit of checking. People detained without valid reasons have to be stopped. Ambika Soni, the Information and Broadcasting minister, said, she is not of the opinion that he was detained on religious grounds. American consulate official replied in the routine that they are inquiring about the matter.
