Designer Anand Jon gets life for sex crimes
Anand John Alexander popularly known as Anand John is
denied his motions for afresh trial by the Judge David Wesley of Los Angeles Superior Court, and awarded a minimum 59 years in prison. John has to live in the state prison for the first 14 years, and then would serve the life sentence of 45 years, the Judge explained.
The case of Anand Jonh came in the fore in 2007, when he was arrested in US. He is a
successful fashion designer, who established his fashion design business 2001. according to the police, he was in the habit of exploiting the budding models, and committed crime against them sexually. In spite of this, he was away from the clutch of the police or any other authority for want of any complaint. In March 2007, a woman complained of sexual assault by him in his Beverly Hills apartment. Then, he was arrested and charge sheet filed against him for which the case was going on. The court found him guilty of 16 counts that include rape, sexual assaults, sexual battery, and lewd acts on a child. David Wesley of Los Angeles Superior Court has sentenced him for 59 tears in jail yesterday (Monday). He has denied doing any such acts as mentioned in his sentence. His lawyer too refused to accept the charges. Those are framed, both opined.
This Indian born fashion designer was so successful that in 2004, Newsweek magazine selected him as the most successful South Asian for that year. Prior to that in 2003, “America’s Next Top Model” profiled him in the show.
The 35 years old, John was shattered with the sentence, and has been taken to custody. He is preparing for another appeal against his sentence.
