Mazen Abdul Jawad given 5 years and 1000 lashes in Saudi court for bragging about sex life Light
sin and heavy punishment could be the appropriate description of the news about which I am going to elaborate.
Saudi Arabia is an Islamic nation, moreover a very conservative in nature. The fact remains, in that country, women are not allowed to drive car, and married women are required to accompany their husbands outside the house. Even working of women outside their house needs to fulfill lot many conditions before taking jobs. Anyway, these are just a few examples of how conservative the country is. In a country like this, talking about sex would be a crime is understandable. Private conversation is one thing, but when that becomes open in the TV, the matter is serious indeed in that country. The same happened to Mazen Abdul Jawad. He is just 32 and living single after divorcing his wife. Together they have four children.
Jawad recently gave an interview to a TV channel in which he narrated his mind in terms of sexual activities since the age of 14, when he lost his virginity. The interview that was conducted in his bedroom, and he was clearly visible without any attempt to hide his face, was taken as an offence by the authority in that country. He was immediately arrested. The channel that aired his interview was also shut down soon after the arrest of Jawed. He was sentenced to five years in jail along with 1000 lashes for violating the Saudi rules on publicizing.
It would be worth mentioning that in states of Wisconsin and Utah in the US do not allow premarital sex as per rules of those states, however, if someone violates this rule, the matter is taken lightly. The same cannot be thought in Saudi Arabia because of its orthodox nature.
