Govt furious as hostage cop turns TV celeb
The
government of West Bengal
released 21 naxal suspects
and got Atindranath Dutta, the officer-in-charge of the Sankrail police station, who was abducted earlier by the naxals. Is this an achievement of the
government? Whatever we think, the government thinks to have won a great battle against the naxals.
The utter failure of the government from curbing the naxal menace in the state is the reason of police officers’ killing regularly.
Now that Dutta is
released and he is in the news, the government is feeling neglected. Neglected for what, we ask the government? The government that is unsuccessful to solve a problem for long thirty years has no right to stay in power.
It wants a favor from the released police officer, it feels. It cannot digest Dutta’s appreciation of the naxals for letting him go home in the wake of releasing 21 suspects by the government. Dutta’s thinking relating to his family is reasonable. Moreover, the government should not take his thinking as an individual very seriously. When a person comes out from the mouth of death, he thanks one and all related to that. He has lost two of his colleagues, and he is not repenting for that, the government accuses. The Inspector General of Police of the western region of West Bengal has brought charges against Dutta of violating the rules of conduct of police.
The natural happenings cannot be denied as is happening for him too. Journalists from all media houses are eager to have a word or two from a person with fresh experience of the enemy’s bastion. And, when on TV, he is in good and different dresses that too are raising the blood pressure of the government.
On the whole, the government might be repenting now for getting his release from the naxals.
The authorities had a long session of discussion with him on 27th, the outcome of which is not disclosed by the government, however, he informed the media that he is not going to join duty immediately. He prefers to have a posting in a different department than the one he was involved with, he said.
