The patriotic ‘Munna Bhai’ of the world had a tear in his eyes when the TADA (Terrorism and Disruptive Activities)
court
declared that “Sanjay Dutt is Not a Terrorist”. The TADA (Prevention) Act
court has been giving out verdicts for the 123 accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. He is guilty of the
charges of possessing illegal weapons for which he faces the court on December 19th. The famous Bollywood actor has spent 18 months in jail in 1993-94.Sanjay Dutt was standing silent in the court room in front of Judge P.D.Kode. He had his head down when the Judge said, “Considering the purpose (defence of family and himself) for which he was in possession of the weapons, he is not guilty…. During reasoning on your compliant, I gave a written order stating that you are not a terrorist and henceforth you will not be called one.” The family members took a sigh of relief after hearing the Judge’s decision.'It (Dutt's acquittal in the TADA charges) is gift to us and we are relieved that he as been absolved of charges under the TADA,' Kumar Gaurav, Dutt's brother-in-law. He was waiting in a car outside the Arthur Road Jail to take him home. His most popular co-star of today, Mr. Arshad Warsi said: 'It could have been worse. I pray he comes out well’. Sister Priya Dutt, who had stood with brother like a rock later, spoke to the media spokesman, Mr. Syed Firduas Ashraf on CNN-IBN. She told what the family had been through during the entire episode. She said “We missed our father, Late Mr. Sunil Dutt, a lot during this phase. If he had been alive, then he would have closed his eyes and cried silently for a few minutes, after having heard the court’s verdict.”Later all day, the residence of Sanjay Dutt was flocked with his friends, fans and well-wishers. Senior film icons and personalities visited him and conveyed their happiness. The house which was engulfed with despair and tensions soon filled with a party spirit. People flanked outside his house to get a glimpse of their, ‘Munna Bhai’. The recent sequel movie, “Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ started the ‘Gandhigiri Revolution’. Politicians and the masses are adopting Gandhigiri everywhere possible.It is the love and wishes of the masses which saved Sanjay Dutt. His prayers in Siddhi Vinayak Temple have been heard. Bollywood welcomed the judgment. But it’s not a sigh of relief for Sanjay Dutt. December 19th verdict will decide the ultimate future of this great actor, for whom Destiny and Nature have never been very kind.
