The dirty politics in the Philippines is what making it under-developed country in Asia until now. I write this article because this is what I feel right now. In order to voiced out this sentiment through Shvoong, I can voiced out my anger to dirty politicians all over the country. In fact, the May 2007 elections in the country was the worst election so far. Many of the supporters of politicians publicly brought politicians money infront of polling places. Right there they would personally approach you and tell you to vote for his candidate and right away give you money. This dirty politics in the country has been going for years and becoming worse. I don''t know if the politicians can still stop this bad example of being a leader in their respective communities. Perhaps, this is also the problem of other countries of the world. Bad politics adds more pain to illing economy and you may ask why? Because the bad politicians who buy votes during elections would certainly get back his capital. If he wins, i''m sure his three years in service would all be focused on how he could retrieve his lost money. In this scenario, he can''t give worthwhile projects to his constituents. What is always in his mind for his three-year term is graft and corruption. That is why if you know very the projects of your congressmen, you can''t think but wonder where the heck this congressman used his annual pork barrel fund of seventy million pesos.
I''m talking of a Filipino congressman. Yes, believe me, even if you try to travel around your district you can only see few projects of said congressman. Yet, he is receiving a hefty sum of P70-M annual pork barrel. I am not talking that all congressmen or senators, or mayors are doing this but majority, i suspect, are guilty of graft and corruption practices.
This situation is giving the Philippines a bad image as the number one corrupt country in Asia and number 14th in the world. What a shocking remark of an international group about the country. No wonder why, the Philippines continue t log behind as compared to other Asian countries. The Filipinos continue to suffer the consequences of this graft and corruption of politicians.
Others say prayers for these corrupt public officials maybe our only option left. After all, they need Divine Intervention to stop all these bad practices. Instead, focus their efforts on how the country can prosper in the coming years like other Asian countries.
