Liberman''S Plan of Territiries Exchange

Article Summary   by:Patish     Original Author: E.P.

MK Avigdor Liberman''s plan of Territories Exchange with the future Palestinian state is widely discussed lately.
According to this plan, Israel will annex all major settlement areas in Judea & Samaria such as Kiriat Arba, Ariel, Maale Adumim. In exchange, the Palestinians will get control over "The Triangle" and Um Al-Fahem - including their arab population. The Israeli left and Arabs strongly oppose this plan and claim it is undemocratic.
However, Liberman''s plan has a lot of logic in it and can bring great benefit to Israel. Not only Israel earns the large settlement areas, which are built on historically important land and are useful in defense - but it also helps to get rid of hundreds of thousands of Arabs living in Israel which are threat on the Jewish national character of our state as a large and growing demographic problem; citizens that do not serve in the army and whose loyalty to the state is under serious question.
An example for this are the betray of exMK Azmi Bishara who is accused in providing information to Hizballah during the Second Lebanese War, and the support he enjoyed from other arab politicians and large majority of the arab population.
A common call of politicians and other leaders of the arab minority to transform Israel into a bi-national state as a step towards total destruction of its Jewish character cannot lead to another conclusion but that Israeli Arabs are not loyal to the state they live in.
The statistics of crime in the arab sector - which is significantly higher than their percent in the population -, their uprise in 2000 and their mass support of the Palestinian Intifada are a proof of the necessity of implementing Liberman''s plan. Only this plan can solve the large number of problems that Israeli Arabs create and prevent even more serious problems in the future.
