Don'T Be a Resident of Your State; Be a Citizen of Your Country!

Article Review by: sweetwine

Original Author: Mumbai Mirror

Yes I proudly say that I am an Indian but now to save my soul I think every Indian need

to redefine his identity as a resident of a particular state of India and not the nationality. Recently there was hullabaloo created by eminent personality Raj Thackrey at a public function and he highly criticised people migrating from other states to Mumbai city in search of their livelihood. Being an Indian, every citizen has given the rights of freedom by the constitution of this country. If we consider the scenario of Mumbai his statement is conforming to the  present situation. He specially made remarks for people who belong to Uttar Pradesh and a film actor Amitabh Bachchan who is popular among all masses all over the world. But the bone of contention here is not just people migrating from UP but Amitabh opening a school in his hometown in UP and not in Maharashtra which has been his land of karma for almost all his life and for what he is today.
I would like to scrutinise this as I belong to this state Maharashtra and I have studied here all my life and whether I feel Amitabh has really cheated to the people of Maharshtra for not paying them back for what he has got from them. All my 21 years of education has been completed  in Maharashtra with one of the best institutions that I can praise. I believe and am proud to say that Maharshtra is one of the richest state in India in terms of educational institutions and their quality education. I have seen students coming from each and every part of other states of India to study in Maharashtra. You just name the state and there is a student from that state. Its not only Jammu and Kashmir or Punjab but also from Bihar, UP or Assam or Kerala or Karnataka from where students have come to study and have been staying in this state for more than 3 or 4 years. This is evident by Maharashtra being one of the highest literate state in India. We are already so rich in terms of giving quality education to one and all people of India ; do we really need any other institute specially founded by some celebrity who does not belong to the Maharashtra soil? Moreover I believe its the people of states like Bihar and UP who are deprived of basic education. Look at the Laloo's land Bihar! The state is full of corruption, ill-literacy, terrorism, rapes, communal riots and has been literally ruled by tyranny of one family for years and inspite of knowing this condition they are absolutely brazen to admit it. Are we literate people from Maharashtra so ignorant and tolerant about these things? Don't we understand that such kind of state is taking our country into dumps? Inspite of being flooded with enormous talent in each and every field why aren't we at the top in this world?
Thats because we are just being the resident of a particular state and forget that we are an Indian first. Just like every Indian has freedon of speech, we have full right to travel anywhere in this country without any permissions from any kind of authority. If people from Uttar pradesh are migrating to Mumbai or other parts of Maharashtra they have full right to do so. Moreover, Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city and it is a land of opportunities, a commercial capital of India where each and every citizen can come and earn their livelihood. And if one such person becomes Amitabh Bachchan he is not to be hold responsible for the communal mess created by politicians. If politicians think about the progressing of this country they can not divide this country into state level regions and fight among themselves. Its their responsibilities to take steps towards prospering each and every part of India and creating employment and equal opportunities there so that people do not flock just one place and derprive each other of basic resources of food, water and shelter.
Infact I fully support what Mr. Bachchan has done. Its people from these backward places who needs basic education to understand the current state on the country and become the furture saviors for us.
Another reason why UPites have been eyed is the population of Mumbai. It is comprised of the biggest contribution to population of India where scarcity would be growing with everyone vying for the basic needs to survive.
Considering all these points I urge one and all who is reading this article to think by being the citizen of the country and not just a resident of so and so state for the past so many years. Think which is the most neglected part of India and what these politicians are doing to imporve it? If someone is doing his part, lets not atleast stop him but spread the good word and support the cause. Lets one and all become Kabir Khan and hear the only word 'India' when we give our identity and let proudly resonate "Chak De India!" from each and every corner of this country.
