Very funny as it seemed at the time the blog I received from Literary London on the issue of WH Auden and in fact it was so funny I had to hide a smile on the bus into town as people would think I was crazy if I started laughing aloud at a private joke! The Joke .. wading through the collection of WH Auden poems or dare I say it .. my own!
However, I do draw the line from time to time and when they start laughing at tragedy then I am not at all amused .... the readership used to corner me about that Turkish earthquake which I was in and say something to the effect that I should get over it. Well I have but even today I still dont laugh at it ...and its not that boring.
But perhaps the debate on the Turks and their Scarf is boring ... as the issues are:
a: Not wearing the scarf to University
b: Wearing the scarf to the University
c: Secular State ... i.e. State Control in Turkey
d: Religious State .. i.e. 100 per cent Muslim Country
so the Turks are out in force on the streets of Turkey about the wearing of the scarf ... even if they took the scarf off at this point in time it would seem to me that they have definitely "missed the boat" ... its an issue they will obviously have to live with and get on with it too - why dont they join the Army!! .......thanks Reuters for the blog.. great work and keep writing and blogging.
