Two Moroccan magazines banned for poll on king.
After the death of king Hassan II, his son Mohammed
VI took over the reign, and is ruling the country for ten years. King Hassan II was legendary, and ruled the country Morocco for long thirty-eight years.
Morocco is a North African country, and is known officially as Kingdom of Morocco. The ruler is the highest authority in the country with his council of elected ministers, and together they run the country. The King has enormous power by law, and can dissolve the assembly if he wishes to. Opposition parties are allowed to function, and in recent times, many were formed. It is against the rule in Morocco to conduct any poll on the King, let alone publishing the poll result, informed the Communication Minister Khalid Naciri. The authorities in the country have banned two issues of two magazines on stand for reason that they published the results of poll on the King. Although, the poll results are in favor of the King, yet the matter was taken from the angle that they violated the press code of 1958, informed the communication minister to the associated Press. He further stated that the poll was conducted in conjunction with the French newspaper LeMonde.
The French magazine Tel Quel and the Arabic magazine Nichane were banned, and copies seized from the stands. This is not the first time that these magazines are banned, also in 2007; these were barred for publishing defamatory editorial about the King. In Morocco, The King, the state religion Islam, and the disputed Western Sahara territory are sensitive issues, and cannot be discussed in any manner.
The minister also informed that any other publication house that publishes the result of the poll will face the same fate as that of these two magazines.
Both these magazines are not in the good books of the government for their anti approach towards the kingdom, reported the news agency.
