Nehru, Patel 'conceded' Pakistan to Jinnah: Jaswant Singh

The division of India in 1947 is
possibly the saddest incident of Indian subcontinent. Why it happened, and how it happened, is the question that billions of Indians want to know.
At that time, there were no other national political party except the Congress and the Muslim League. Those two parties could have had a better understanding to avoid the partition. However, that did not happen, and two countries existed since the middle of August 1947.
Indians blame Jinnah for this division, and for Pakistanis, it is not a question at all as they got a separate homeland for the Muslims.
Jaswant Singh, the former foreign minister of India, has revealed some facts on the partition. In his latest book, “Jinnah – India, Pakistan, Independence”, he has blamed top congress leaders of that time for this unfortunate event. He also dragged the British in this saying that the last ruler played the role of midwife for the creation of Pakistan. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of independent India, and Ballabhbhai Patel, the first home minister, together had compromised to accept the division, rather than the Jinnah won the game of partition, the book reveals. The book that will be available in the market on 17 August would definitely create uproar among the public. Jaswant has narrated the Jinnah’s steady progress from the ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity to the title of Quaid-e-Azam of Pakistan.
The last British Viceroy Lord Mountbatten was asked, how did you divide a geographic and geopolitical unity of a country, he answered, “Through a surgical operation”. The saddest part of the division is Nehru and Patel agreed to this proposal instead of opposing it vehemently.
the curious Indian minds would raise the question what interest these congress leaders had to concede the partition of India.
