Silvio Berlusconi manages to communicate his own views on the recent political events, sending a message of great confidence in the future. This vivid feeling surpass the coldness of mere information to dissolve itself into glowing inspiration for the people, who understand his determined, but never authoritarian influence. This book''s purpose is to define a "narrative of the truth". I remember being a beginner in the press when I''ve got the opportunity to read this book. Since then, in a lively broadcast, as I worked as an editor in a private radio station, I had to define the political declining of Berlusconi as... "a crossing", but not a desert crossing, as in the biblical sense... but rather a transition in his existence, which was as much as stimulating as it was stormy, packed with every kind of danger, but announcing the approach of political innovations. Not by chance, Indro Mondanelli (the great master of journalism) strongly discouraged Berlusconi from entering the political field... Although he did it after Berlusconi had already resigned from all of the many positions he held at that point, so he could run for the office!!!!!! Berlusconi is generous for his friends, what made him nevertheless vulnerable against accusations of conflicts of interest... a powerful weapon used many times against him by his political adversaries!!! Opposite to Mondanelli (i.e. these who encouraged Berlusconi to move forward in the constitution of the political movement “Forza Italia”) there was the charismatic figure of the Genovese cleric Don Baget Bozzo, who was worried about the fate of the moderate electorate, abandoned after the destruction the “tangentopoliana” parties, which represent them. “The Italy I have in Mind” isn’t a simple collection of speeches by political figure Silvio Berlusconi, but rather a perfect picture of the beginnings of the “Forza Italia” party!!! Although ten years have passed since the book has been written, it still keeps intact its evocative and iconoclastic power. That is, thoughts from the enlightened and enlightening mind of a man with spirit to serve and industrial doses of patience and humility, a man who put at the service of the Italian community his great entrepreneurial talent and his wide experience. His tone of thought was always set to a positive and constructive attitude, facing hardships of every kind, which he repeatedly overcame, rescuing his public image. Give me pleasure to recall a fragment from one of his speeches, which started like this: “I envision an Italy humble but tenacious, proud and honest, moderate and ready to defend the principles of freedom...". It’s the history of the political movement “Forza Italia”, the chrysalis, now turned into a beautiful butterfly, the political party “Forza Italia”, the bearer of the great human, ethical and social values of the Western liberal democracy. ---ITALO LIANZA.
