My Letter to the Prime Minister

Article Abstract by: SameerGupta

Original Author: Sameer Gupta
Dear Prime Minister,
It’s a pleasure to write to you as a young NRI, who is closely watching the Nation’s Economy,
Politics and Other Happenings. I have never so far in my life written a letter to a person sitting at such a High and Respectable Position. However the past few days’ speculation and Standoff with your crucial Ally, the Left parties that triggered the news of your being felt let down provoked me to let you listen to what the young Indians feel, who may be far from motherland working at US but still have the pulse of their beloved Nation every Now and then.
You have always been respected for making the country proud for going ahead with such a remarkable deal that makes India Stand along the World’s some of the Most Powerful Nations. At this point of time the Deal may not materialize due to Your Allies not succumbing to your Standpoint towards a Vibrant India. But it does not mean that we are not clear about our viewpoint and not true to our words in the World Arena. Every Nation has its own internal set of problems and differing views among the decision makers. Even President Bush faces lot of opposition for many of his policies. But we as Nations’ Youth completely believe in your capability that you will be able to persuade the allies, since the deal is clearly in India’s benefit barring few clauses that cause hiccups. And the Left will
Understand they just can’t blindly be Anti-US for everything it does. I notice that there are few objectionable clauses associated with the deal agreement but still it gives a Gateway to a Power Starved nation, India a Big push with the Energy sufficiency developing a cleaner and cost effective option in the Long run.
You may not be known as a bold PM as Mrs. Indira Gandhi was known to be, but every individual has its own way of operation, firmness of belief and execution which is not shown only by strong speeches and Provocative public remarks. I also notice that this being a coalition Government you have to succumb to their pressure in order to make the Government running, and to provide the country a stable political atmosphere. But a practical approach of showing them the Deal has more Pros than cons will surely win the favors. The BJP can’t do anything apart from criticizing you and the UPA since it’s completely starved of potential issues. So their comments don’t deserve much attention.
Some of your other policies such as National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme were also noteworthy; its initial success is worth acclaim. However the fairness of masses being benefited, expansion of it as a pan-India operation and from mere 100 days employment to a year round arrangement will make it successful in a True sense. Your Governments’ farmer friendly approach also impresses me as the country has almost two third of the population drawing livelihood from agriculture, upliftment of them will certainly further boost economic progress of the Nation. However Despite your attention to the plight of Vidarbha Farmers, not much seems to have been done at the grass root level. The Governments’ stand on the Quota row after Rahul’s remarks was also fairly reasonable.
In the Nutshell, I just want to send the message that you have done a very good job in last three years and continue to do so, we completely believe in your and your government’s capability to lead a roaring and vibrant economy. There are always hiccups in the path to remarkable success and one has to deal with them. Please continue to provide the Nation a dynamic leadership that it Deserves from such an experienced Intellectual, It’s truly an honor to have you as our Prime Minister.
Jai Hind!
