BJP demands fresh probe into Bofors kickbacks The simple equation is that the kick back money whoever paid and to whomsoever paid came from the Indian coffer through different eye wash channel. And the government at the time of the approving the sale is responsible for that. The same government ordered the probe to be closed and facilitated the prime suspect Ottavio Quattrocchi, allegedly close to the then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, whose wife the Italian national Sonia Gandhi, the country where Quattrocchi belongs to. Are not all these say only one thing that without the help of the then PM he could not have concluded the lucrative deal?
Now that the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) has clearly stated the names of kick back receivers in the Bofors gun deal, the matter should be investigated further to nail the corrupt people. BJP leader Arun Jaitley has demanded the fresh investigation of the deal since it was a clear fraud by a special investigation team instead of CBI, which cannot be trusted. The CBI’s contention that there were no kickbacks in the Bofors gun deal has been proved wrong by the ITAT’s report and it has lost the credibility of reinvestigating the case. The congress party being the leader of the alliance UPA did whatever it could to save Quattrocchi. Why this soft corner for this treacherous man, who indulged in corrupt practices to earn money deceiving the Indian government? He alone could not do the wrong without the nexus between him and the government officials including the ministers. It is obvious that the money he grabbed was not taken by him entirely; he must have given due share to people in the government in India without doubt.
After the tribunal report came in the light, and BJP’s demand for fresh probe, the congress party as usual started defending by saying that Bofors is a dead horse. Who made the horse dead? It is congress party wanted to close the chapter to cover up many loop holes and to save its leaders in the deal.
The two ‘C’s the congress and corruption has become synonymous. I am sure more cases of corruption involving congress party members would appear without fail in the near future.
