Over the past two years I have noticed something that has been changing and effecting our youth so dramatically. Our youth are being introduced into a world that they do not know. The scariest part about this though, is that our parents don't know either. The class of 2009, 2010, and 2011, will be the last of our generations to ever grow up as children without a lot of technology in their lives. All of the youth that grow up from this day forward will never know a world without social networking, apple products, blackberry's, and more. We are growing up in a society where 7 year old children know how to work an Iphone better than most adults. I am concerned that when I am older, wiser, and have children of my own, the concept of actually going outside to do chores, taking out the garbage, and sitting around a table on a Friday night and playing board games won't exist anymore. I am concerned that there will be people in the world with power that will take away rights and opportunities of those who have nothing, or very little in their life. I am concerned that technology in the next 4 years will develop at such an amazing pace, that we will not have a chance to adapt as fast as those who are growing up and advancing with it.
I feel that in the next 25 years adults, who will then be elders and seniors, will become over ruled and run by the youth who will be adults. I have so much to say on a topic like this one, however it is not for me to say. This is a topic that must be remembered by so many, when there are so few left who will remember the little things in life. We cannot let technology take over our lives, we need to remember and teach our future generations what its like to play on the grass, to live without a cellphone, and to eat without watching tv or texting. We need to cherish the concept of family or else we will never be the same again. I am 18 years old, and I will remember who I am and where I come from, and I hope that this will be the same case with my generation and the generations to come.
